Education for sale !

Wondering what does the above Photo mean? Well, it's the future, The future of Education. The admission season is in the air right now, with all the institutions and student eagerly waiting to see whats in store for them this academic year. In this modern world, where the theory of Charles Darwin " Survival of the fittest " holds good, one is sure to face challenges from all sides. This implies not just to the students but the educational institutions too. Recently, I happen to read many advertisements stating to offer free laptops, free foreign trips etc, I wonder what will be the situation when my children would go for their admissions say atleast 25 years later. Each institution will have a brand ambassador, free study materials, trip and tours every weekend, a movie daily and of course cheer girls to welcome the students everyday at the college !!! And all these would come at a nominal fees, yes a nominal fees of a few crores of rupees...

In the land of Gods where education is considered sacred, this might be the scene. Haven't you heard of the days when saints and sages educated their 'Shishyas' (students) at their homes, called gurukul with no fees, but only a Dakshina (an offering to the saint according to his wish)? Imagine if a person from that century visits a modern college? Yeah, there's of course one thing positive, that's the presence of the girls as in those times girls were devoid of education.
The education business is one of the recent times most profitable business. Soon we can expect the arrival of the business giants into this sector, and then being meritorious in academics would just mean a few seats in Govt. colleges.
Let's hope the the Govt and the judiciary resort to some sensible measures to check the further commercialization of education, or else India may become a land of doctors and engineers with no one who knows, 'What doctoring or engineering is' in true sense.
