The eternal Dispute over 7th Std textbook

If you are a malayali, You must be aware of the recent protest again one of the chapters in social science textbook of the Kerala syllabus and if you are not a malayali, then here is an interesting dispute.
Kerala, recognized as the most literate state in India is now fighting amongst each other over the issue of a story mentioned in the 7th std textbook which is about a child whose father has a Muslim name and mother has a Hindu name, and as the story progresses the parents give the right to the child to chose whichever religion he likes when he grows up. Political associations like the KSU (Kerala students Union) and religious association like the 'Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) are urging the Govt to withdraw the Chapter. They feel that the lesson tries to preach atheism and can “poison young minds” with anti-religious feelings. While the KSU is speaking more on the political lines that the LDF govt is trying to spread Communism, KCBC is more worried about communalism in the chapter.
It's interesting to note about the fight between the christian associations and the communist govt because it's not the first time an issue is taking place between them in recent times.
As of a personal opinion, I don't feel there is anything so serious about in that chapter to have a such big debate over it. I saw a feature over this issue in Asianet channel where they asked the students about, How they felt about the issue? Must say, that the kids were much smarter than expected as they said that the lesson was fun to read and it was thought provoking. They even didn't hesitate to say that, they never looked up to their friend's religion while making friendship with them. I guarantee that those kids even wouldn't know what exactly terms like 'atheism' and 'communism' mean. Problems occur whenever adults read it and interpret.... Poor kids don't know about that. Well, the kids must be enjoying holidays days as 'education bandhs' and strikes are getting frequent as the protests are getting intensified.
